Halina, a 75-year-old Ukrainian woman, sits on her futon, two years after I first met her in November 2022 when her roof was leaking water everywhere. At that time, I left Halina crying and weeping, hopeless about making it through the winter. Now, she sits with me again, recounting her story of resilience. Her apartment has been renovated, but she still hopes for more help to cover her heating and electricity bills, which are rising.
