This is a view of the corridor in the block of apartments 425A in Borodyanka, Kyiv, Ukraine, photographed on Wednesday, 24 July 2024. The work team, led by Sergyi (not in photo), is experiencing difficulties with material supply and frequent electricity outages, causing significant delays. Two years ago, I first met the women living in this apartment, including Halina, Tanya, Olha, Nina, and Luda (not in picture). In November 2022, the rooftop was leaking water everywhere, and the women were weeping, worried about how they would get through the winter. One could hear the whistles of the wind blowing throughout the entire building, and it felt as if the walls were talking and shivering with the risk of collapse. But the ladies, with iron hearts, didn't give up. They are now seeing their block of apartments nearly completed. (VX Photo/Vudi Xhymshiti)
