The Story of Dima

Dima, whose full name is Dmitry Valerievich Lashko, walks out to the backyard garden where his wife and in-laws are planting vegetables, to pose together for a family photo. Dima, 41, originally from Vuhledar, has faced profound personal tragedy and resilience. In 2022, he lost his entire first family, including his parents, brother, and wife, to the war. He buried his wife in Dnipro, while the rest of his family remains in Vuhledar, now inaccessible due to the ongoing conflict. Dima currently lives with his new wife, Ina, her two children, and her parents. The family also has a two-year-old dog named Ben.
