On 15 July 2024, I interviewed Olha Kulish in her bedroom at a residential building undergoing reconstruction after bombardment damage in Borodyanka, Ukraine. Olha, one of three women lined up for execution during the Russian invasion, shared her harrowing experiences. Borodyanka, a town bordering Bucha, witnessed infamous massacres in 2022. She spoke of the struggles of living without heating and the soaring costs of electricity. Despite her pension being her main source of income, Olha highlighted the difficulty of affording basic utilities and medical expenses. She expressed deep concerns about the upcoming winter and the overall uncertainty of future living conditions.
