On 15 July, I met Tanya for an interview, capturing her story through photographs as she spoke. Tanya shared her reflections on life more than two years after the liberation of Borodyanka from Russian forces. She expressed a deep sense of gratitude for her current home, despite it being far from her dream, and recounted the emotional journey of coming to terms with the destruction of the places she once aspired to live. She also highlighted the challenges faced by residents in Borodyanka, including issues with electricity and housing conditions, and the ongoing impact of the conflict on their lives. Tanya is a former healthcare worker from Borodyanka, Ukraine, who specialised in sanitary and hygienic practices. After the town was liberated from Russian forces, she has been navigating life amidst the challenges and changes brought by the conflict. Tanya is also a Chernobyl survivor, which has influenced her outlook on life and resilience. Now retired, she lives with a deep sense of gratitude for her current home despite the hardships.
