Vanadzor is the capital and largest city of the province. Other important towns include Stepanavan, Alaverdi, and Spitak, which is a city that was struck by a devastating earthquake in December 1988. The rubbles are still at the place, the ghost devastated town is still calling for visitors to see what it feels like to be struck by a quake.
