Ivanovic was shot and killed Tuesday, (Jan 16, 2018) morning, raising ethnic tensions in the region and halting EU-mediated talks between Kosovo and Serbia on the day they were due to resume.

Albania and Kosovo have signed a series of bilateral agreements, during Albanian Premier Sali Berisha's visit to Kosovo. Six agreements were signed on Tuesday, including protocols on customs and border policing. Berisha was also awarded the Golden Medal of Freedom by Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu.

Prishtina International Film Festival (PriFest) is a feature film festival set in the youngest country in the Balkans, Kosovo, namely in its capital Pristina. It was founded in 2008. I covered its first edition in 2009. Prishtina International Film Festival is the most important film event that is held in Kosovo.

Ramush Haradinaj is a Kosovar politician, leader of the AAK party, and was the 3rd Prime Minister of Kosovo. He is a former officer and leader of the Kosovo Liberation Army and previously served as Prime Minister of Kosovo between 2004 and 2005. He served as a rebel commander in the 1998-1999 Kosovo conflict, which eventually led to Kosovo declaring independence. He said he stepped down so he could attend court as an ordinary citizen. Mr Haradinaj, who denies war crimes charges, has been tried and acquitted twice at the UN tribunal.

Although the war ended in Kosovo in 1999, thousands of families still demand answers from Serbian and Kosovar officials about their loved ones' whereabouts. Serbia has never apologised for the war crimes committed under Slobodan Milosevic's rule, which led to NATO intervention in March 1999.

Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), visited Kosovo on 14 July 2009, as part of a wider trip to the Western Balkans region. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss the latest local developments as well as regional issues and relations with the European Union. Mr Solana met with President Fatmir Sejdiu and Prime Minister Hashim Thaci.

Kosovo Liberation Army war veterans have launched a protest outside the Kosovo government building in Pristina over what they say is the government’s poor treatment of former fighters. Headed by the Council for the Protection of the Rights of the KLA, the protesters said that the government should finally start to respect and legally protect their cause. However, despite their meeting with Kosovo’s Premier Hashim Thaci on Monday afternoon, an agreement was not concluded which would have averted the protest. According to the 15 protesters, the patience of KLA soldiers and their family members has “come to the end”. They complained to have been ignored by the state’s authorities who have not been done enough for their well-being.

The Ahtisaari Plan, formally the Comprehensive Proposal for the Kosovo Status Settlement (CSP), is a status settlement proposal covering a wide range of issues related to the Kosovo status process for Kosovo.

"The UN mission in Kosovo is no longer needed, a delegation from the European." Parliament said on Monday. Doris Pack, head of the European Parliament’s delegation for the West Balkans, made the comments after a meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci. The European mission in Kosovo, EULEX, declared itself “fully operational” at a ceremony on Monday. Pack said, “We need EULEX all around Kosovo and have agreed that we don’t need UNMIK any more.” She said EULEX’s deployment across Kosovo is vital in the fight against crime in the north, adding both Kosovo Albanians and Serbs were to blame for problems.
